Our pieces are adorned with the artwork hand-carved onto printing boards by artists of the Tavioni family in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
For our Ātea line, our in-house designers have digitally recreated our traditional hand-carved prints; preserving the print in time, while retaining the natural, organic feel of traditional TAV.
This piece features our locally designed TAV print: ‘Akaanga.
‘Akaanga means to revitalise in te reo Māori.
Our ‘Akaanga print pays homage to the traditions of mark-making throughout the Pacific. The print features a recurring motif called the Tātatau; a delicate Marquesas design which is reminiscent of a facial tattoo. ‘Akaanga is a print which lives as an everlasting reminder to carry the memory of your journey with pride.
